The Dumbell is beautiful but inconveniently far to the north. With our new wireless bridge remote control, it was easier to catch it at near its best.
Last night we added 3 hrs of 1x1 unbinned H-alpha (in 30 min subs), aiming for core detail, to 3 hrs of 2x2 binned H-alpha in 1 hr subs from 2016, designed to see the faint outer skirt.
Down here in central western NSW it is very low in the north, and seeing down there (about 3 sec arc) was much worse than directly aloft (1.8 sec arc), but it's not too alarming.
Looks great M&T. I was going to image this beautiful nebula but went for the Helix instead. Perhaps next time I will have a go at this one with my small refractor.
That looks really good guys. I've often thought about this one but always opted out because of its location. I envy your 1.8" seeing in the zenith. I have only very occasionally (maybe once) approached this at Wiruna

Looks very good Mike. Nice details. This one is a lot higher at Astrofest.

Wow! What an overnight response! Thanks everyone so much for the encouragement. We're clearly going to have to catch some OIII on it before it disappears.
Dare I say, this sort of object is the CDK20’s Raison d'être.....wonderful stuff
I think you're right, Peter. It's not super-sharp like your Alluna with adaptive optics, and unlike a 4" doing Jupiter at 10 frames a second, it's very affected by seeing, but it is work-a-day sharp, and amazingly good at seizing innocent and inattentive photons, so it's best at faint detail, where photons are scarce.

Thanks Bart! Hopefully we'll get some OIII before it disappears - it has a short season.
