Talking Chicken's Pen

Hi IIS'ers,

I'm currently working on the chook and have gotten 4 hours so far (evenly split between Ha & OIII). I plan to get another 2 hours tonight solely on Ha since I'm going for the mapping LRGB = Ha:HaSynth):OIII. Details below:

Mount: NEQ6
Imaging Train: Orion 80ED - CCDT67 Reducer - OAG - FW - QHY9M (Operating at 400mm)
Guiding: Lodestar used with a TSOAG9, 3sec guiding
Ha & OIII - 900sec * 8 Subs
Image processing: Captured in Maxim 5, Stacked in DSS, Edited in Startools, Slight touch up in Photoshop CS6

This is my first serious imaging attempt since I got into the hobby and really keen on making it special I would like to know your opinion and any areas of improvement where I could do better. I think the colour is a little off for my liking but I will blend it properly in the final image.

Thanks for looking and comments welcome!

Hi Meru,

Thats coming on nicely. I have looked at various images of this target but the only think I can see that resembles a chook is down in the bottom right hand corner, but it looks like its been run over by a steamroller..
Cheers

Lots of detail there Meru, well done.
But still no chicken (or egg).

Nice work Meru,
I think you should get S2 as well as that will give the golden colour in the sides and use Ha for green and L.
This target has a lot of details in S2 and O3 so a hubble palette would look great as its a nice field you've got there.
I would suggest sharpening in PS to bring out details in the chicken, which I thought was this??

Thanks John, Goran & Bo!
Haha yes I can see that flattened chicken, I've tried to outline what I think is the chicken but it looks worse than my nephew's finger painting lol. It's bascially a chicken facing to the left and looking backwards.

Thanks Alistair,
That's interesting cause I was looking through my old subs and found that there was barely any if not any at all S3 data on the chicken? Even with 2 hours on OIII I don't have too much. Can you post your O3 & S2 subs? And yes that's a good idea, when I do the final version I will sharpen that region nicely.

Keep the suggestions and comments coming guys!
