Emu headstand..revisited

Hi everyone,

this image was taken around 1.00am 30-05-2020,
from my home on the South Coast NSW.

Bortle 2 sky.

It was an amazing night, with lots of dew about.

I had been experimenting for a few hours with the ZWO Asiar
and S10 mobile.

I enjoyed this shot in particular, though there was a lot taken
via trail and error.

Single shot;

Canon 1100D modded
Tamron 17mm f/2.8
Skywatcher Staradventurer
ZWO Asiair
Samsung S10

Processed via Samsung S10 Photo edit.
2nd image as a revisit.

Looking rather good, Paul, How long was the exposure, ISO and F/stop ?
Good detail for a single, have you considered stacking some, would be surprised what 5-8 images stacked can reveal..

Processing ? I can only suggest some color balancing - this is what PShop Auto-color does

Thanks for tidying up the image.

Agreed the photo shop auto balance did help.

Something I don't have.

The Tamron 17-55 mm is an aspherical lens,
Which has an open appature.

I was using various iso during the night, but from
memory it was 3200 for 3 minutes...I was in battle with dew.

That is a bit cool paul.

hey, please dont mind me askin' - your 1st photo was taken at iso 3200 for 3 minutes, wow, the photo looks rather dark, if I dont say very dark for those settings, and i'm querying about the F/ratio your lens you mention was set at at the time of that exposure, I somehow think weather the F/ratio may have been a lot higher, like F/15 or f/20 ? ?

Hi Bob,

It's the processing that made it dark.

As mentioned I am using a mobile to alter the image.

It seems a very flexible program.

The Tameron has a set focal length of f2.8.

I did include a link for reference previously.

The sidewards image shows the dew over the lens
During another image.

Just for pure experiment, I have the first image at two extremes of processing to show variances that can be achieved.
