UK prices as compared to others

APOLOGIES if this has been ask3ed before but...........

Why are we in the UK, (I am in Wales actually a separate country ) charged stupid prices as compared to the US, is it me.

I recently wanted a celestron GPS "Celestron 93969 SkySync GPS Accessory ", US £99, UK from £150 to £230.00 !!!!!! (note **)

In fact I could import it from the US and still save, fortunately I got a mint one off Ebay for £60.

In the US my triplet skywatcher came with a FREE field flattener uk no chance, and this is standard across the board.

There is 100% price fixing actually supposedly illegal here, NO reseller can sell for less than another reseller (for the main scopes etc **), what is in one shop is the same in another and if it is cheaper by "much" they can lose their right to sell I checked this as a Journalist.

Same here in Australia.

Prices are double and sometimes triple for certain astro gear.

Don't forget that US prices are excluding GST, unlike in the UK / EU or AU. And another factor is that the £ exchange rate is a bit too high and the AU$ a bit too low. The latter is favorable for me so my current Oz trip is a cheaper trip for me, but for the Ozzies astro and electronics gear is too expensive.

Personally I find prices in the UK more than competitive with local prices. I buy from First Light Optics and with the saving on VAT, they are less than some unnamed local suppliers.
