Bug-poop on lenses

I can't say whether it is spider or fly poop but it's there - on an expensive coated lens. Any suggestions for removal - cold cream, isopropynol warm soapy water, hammer and chisel?

Spit or cheap vodka. Lots of either. Or first one then the other.

But you probably do want to get the gunk off quickly. Although lens coating are a lot harder than they used to be, having stuff sit and harden on a lens is not a great idea.

I know it sounds a bit offish-but a little spit is the very best thing to remove spider poop-it works a charm when cleaning household items and furniture.I've got some bug muck of optical tube using spit.

Don't be to worried, lens and their coatings are far tougher than made out to be, just be brave and moisten it a bit if it has gone hard, then just wipe it of gently, with anything that will clean glass, Windex is perfect, have used it plenty of times on some expensive equipment.
