Aspect Ratio vs Binning?

I seem to be observing something unexpected, at least to me. I've been experimenting with binning my Trius and the aspect ratio seems ca double that of not binning. Even short 15 sec exposures (guided!) are rarely lower than 18-20 whereas I'm quite used to seeing 8-10 unbinned. I can't quite understand why this is happening.

I do understand that better FWHM values are often accompanied by higher aspect, but binning? What am I missing?

Thanks,

Peter
