Why so Many.....

Why do people own so many Scopes.

I've tried many Scopes over the years ...sometimes coming back full circle buying back a Scope I had once sold. ( FS78 comes to mind )

Looking at some of the ' Signatures ' on this forum, how can anyone possibility get time to make use of their many Scopes .

or ...are they just ' collectors '

Col...

Like everything in life, try before you buy... you get the analogy

I have come near-full circle again, finally getting the fixed-dewshield FSQ-106 I always dreamed of. It's going NOWHERE, as I have NIL desire for any other scopes (hence me selling that Maksutov, which via the usual circle found its way to you).

1 scope is all I need.

With imaging and visual it's easy to justify 3 scopes - two different focal lengths for imaging plus a light bucket for visual. Then maybe another focal length for imaging, a portable visual scope...…

I have a lot, it’s not about using them all, they do get cycled through. I was using s 10” AOS , that’s now in line for restoration and I’m using a bintel 305. If I want I can go get a Unitron out or a Royal Astro 3” or a Carton.... I could also go find a shorter or longer AOS 8”. Life would be boring tied to just one.

I have three, only wanted three, not interested in "being one up" on the next person seeing how much gear I can get, I retired and had a small lump sum so bought what I needed, SCT, large refractor and a 72mm ED as a travel scope and for Solar, all used, no collections here

The optimal number of scopes you should have is n+1, where n= the number of scopes in your current possession.
