Oberwerk binocular mirror mount and filters

Photo included through a 50mm stock lense taken of the old perisicope mirror on a track mount which shows the reflection. Not too bad for a mirror which has quite a bit of damage . The new mirror available included with the mount should be brilliant. I will let the buyer unwrap that and install.

For sale is a good condition Oberwerk adjustable mirror mount for observing at the zenith with binoculars and tripod with a 1/4 inch mount screw.

Binoculars and tripod not included.

Included is a "new in package" binocular military periscope replacement mirror. Installed mirror is ordinary.

Price $200 plus post and insurance

Also a pair of Fujinon LP rotating polarizing filters which would suit a 34mm internal thread I think and threads into the internal thread on a Baader Diagonal or some binocular eyepieces. Box may not be original. Filters look good but foam in case is aged.

Price $100, (similar filters are $265 US new) plus post.

Also available is a pair of Celestron polarizing 1 1/4 eyepiece filters made in Japan in original boxes and cases. $50. plus post.

Hi Ray,

A couple of questions:
What is the highest power that you have used with this?
Are there any specs on the replacement mirror? 1 wave? 1/2 wave?
What size is the replacement mirror?

Thanks a lot,

Dean

Hi Dean,

You can check Cloudy Nights and there might be more explicit answers.

I think that any power ( as it is simply a large diagonal) and a large range of large binocular sizes up to 70mm can be accommodated with many locating positions.

I have not tried this but I can have a look later with my 20x 35mm.

Regarding the mirror, i have only the photos posted indicated on the delivery package and a receipt that indicates a replacement mirror for the Oberwerk. The mirror is the same size as the original, about 4 x 9 x 1/2 inch thick , facet edged and ended , and very heavy.

Regards
Ray

Mirrors

For a mirror mount you need a First Surface Mirror, army tank mirrors are first surface mirrors, but would not be optically flat (very expensive those).
My DIY mirror mount can be used with good results up to my 28x100 binoculars using a good first surface mirror ( from the supplier down Bankstown way Sydney.)
The office man there will look p a nice piece as his daughter is a budding star gazer.

Both the mirror on the Oberwerk mount and the new replacement are the same 1/2 inch thick first surface mirrors , a coating system chosen for optical purposes. As to the optical flatness I could not say and have no way of testing. I think that it is more than capable for visual use and looks equal to my diagonal.

Changed price

Anyone intrested in the Oberwerk binocular mirror mount at $150...?
Otherwise the 10mm thick aluminium bracket plates and 1/4 inch connectors would make a great accessory mount for my telrad.

Sold!

Make an offer on the two sets of filters if you want them. Say $50?
