BTW at first I thought this had to be a US airport affected by the gov't shutdown.

The blue Thomson you mention is being refueled, you can see the air bp tanker in front of it, and there's another passenger jet at one of the gates, an Air Berlin, almost on the far right of the pic.

I'm impressed that you know the planes by name but my point still stands. If they had agreed to face the right way they would be finished with their chores and be able to go home with all the other planes .

The Thomson being refueled, was easy to ID, as there's another Thomson in the air, bottom row far left of the pic.
There's an Air Berlin in flight, almost directly above the Thomson on the ground. That's how I was able to ID the one at the gate on the far right.

Maybe I should know this, but how was this image taken, I presume each aircraft was photographed as it took off and then they were all layered on a single image
