Eta Carinae Nebula NGC 3372 800 f8 102mm

Perhaps I planted too many trees, but they block the streetlight.

The moon was up and Eta was all I could see once it came out from behind a tree. Stellarium was not happy to slew so it was over to the finder to locate the object.

Strangely, PHD happily chugged away for 3 minutes at a time with the barest of backyard alignments, don't ask me how that works. This was iso 400 with a stock 20mp camera .

With the reducer on , could I go iso 200 for a longer time and produce more detail with less noise for this big bright thing before the moon arrives.?

Super image under less than favourable conditions
When the moons up it is hard to navigate as most of your dim stars fade in and out so it’s a lot of guess work I suppose

Thanks guys.

The problem with alignment could be the moon and the streetlights. Very hard to see octans clearly from down the yard over the trees. 30min out according to PHD but at least it works.

The poor slewing had more to do with cables I think. I need bullet proof cables and a 12v power and usb hub.

Thanks Alex, but I need a lot more well aligned guided data yet. And a black paintball to the street light. I will swap my colourful fuzzy RGB for your clear and extensive NB data. Adding NB equipment to my refractors and lenses would be ideal.

Try a long dew tube (mine is 2 feet long and baffled) that will probably help with the street light.
