i have been a bad boy.

I had to go outside to the toilet..hand over hand as fortunately there is stuff to support my weight to get there...I looked up..so clear..so reached in the van got the lap top plugged it intook off the cover focused ruffly and rested with my foot up while I captured an hour of luminance at 60 second unguided. most pleasant with my foot up just looking at the stars. I just needed a break from it all.
so here is the result...ran it thru startools and nothing else..noticed some nasty blobs so need to track them down or start using flats.
and for those of you who like playing with images please go ahead.
try a colouring in in photoshop if you like and see if you can tidy it up..i will but not today.
just doing this pulled my sunken spirits up..something for me if you know the feeling.

It's hard to be good when there's a tempting target like that available Alex - nice, big, detailed galaxy to fill the frame. I have to wonder if anyone's looking back.

I am pretty sure there might be..if not a terrible waste of real estate.
And thanks for you encouragement.

Simply beautiful Alex !
I admire your courage and spirit to “get back on your horse” temporarily
The skies must be sight to behold up there in northern NSW
Well done !!

Well Done Alex,

I have empathy after being `out of action` myself for just over 12 months.

Just getting back on my feet, it`s been a journey.

Sometimes its the little things that can make all the difference,
especially when its in the early hours of the morning and your mind
wanders.

It`s good to have something to keep the brain moving, if nothing else.

The sky is a great distraction from it all.

Stay strong and rest well.

Paul.

Thank you everyone. And thanks to all the inspirational folk in my world who show by example that problems can always be overcome. Each day when I feel like a sook I think of Stephen Hawking and think what a fine example of courage in perhaps a situation that no one's would blame him for giving up...I just now remembered my school moto..Virtus in Ardus..probably spell it wrong but it was only on my blazer for five years...Courage in difficulty.
I think of my old 90 year old boss and my father who never gave into the concept of old age.
Just wish I could drive or take a decent shower. But wet a corner of a towel and use what you have..better than nothing.
The wind has picked up but so has Dad.
I am processing M33 from the other night and marking pieces of wood for the air cond installation and boy do I need it 35 in the van ..taken the ice off my foot and put it on my head..at least I have ice...life is just so good you can't waste a single second.
Alex

Virtus in Arduis”, Virtue conquers hardships, but it can also mean “There is STRENGTH to be gained in DIFFICULTIES or HARDSHIP.”

Now that would be a tattoo worth having.
Alex

Alex,
That’s a top effort! Power to you.
By the way what focal length is your scope? You just managed to squeeze it in the frame here - Andromeda is a rather expansive galaxy.

I have forgotten the FL if you can't believe that...

Thanks for your encouragement.

The 80 mm is the one for M31.

Last night I managed an hour of red..not too taxing and maybe some blue tonite ...
