The triple star system

Just a question re nebulae

how many exposures would be required to show the nebulae surrounding these stars

I captured over 90 minutes of data with my GSO 8" yet I can't seem to get any dust to show up in the image

is this more suited to widefield imaging or do i just need more data

I'm no expert... but all the good images I've seen of this area were taken with an SLR camera lens...

It's a huge area Trevor. Doesn't your star software show you FOV? Here's an RC8 with QHY9 pointed at the area. Your qhy8 sees a little more sky than this. The big boxes show the FOV of the tak fs60 with a qhy9.

I think Jase's version is the best I've ever seen and it was a huge mosaic.

You're going to require 15-minute luminance exposures to bring up that dust.

Trever i have tried 10 min subs with my rc8 and Nikon d90 iso 400 and still couldn't bring out the dust clouds. i think i will have to bump up the iso 1000 or buy ccd camera and do longer subs.
