Ngc 1914

This is another one in the obscure category which is strange given that it has a NGC designation. There seem to very few existing images of NGC 1914. This is a HaOIIIOIII image obtained under challenging conditions of bad seeing and malfunctioning software. I hope to get some LRGB data for it at some stage but given the weather forecast I don't think that's going to happen in a hurry.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Mike. I can't recall ever seeing it but I guess it's just hiding among all the other stuff in the LMC.

Thanks Kevin. I see it as more blue than green. I think it's a little open cluster (blue = young stars). Not sure of the identity.

Thanks Rick. It will probably look more natural when I get RGB data.

Interested target Steve, definitely far off the beaten track.

When I saw NGC 1914 I thought you may have shot Messier 42 but apparently that’s NGC 1976.

I don't think I would make a mistake like that. It's definitely not well known and was suggested to me by my UK colleague. I had never heard of it.

Anyway stay tuned. I'm hoping to get some RGB in the next week or so.
