8-Burst, NGC2440 and Ghost of Jupiter PN's

SPX350 F9.1, ASI290 uncooled, Baader RGB Astronomik UHC filters.

NGC 2440 is a strange PN as its core is searingly bright but the wings are quite faint so it needed a good stretching. 0.38"/pixel

8-Burst nebula is always a beauty rgb arrangement seemed to work best. 0.38"/pixel.

The Ghost of J was also very bright needing 2 exposures shot at full resolution in good seeing. 0.19"/pixel.

The ASI290 at 20-30 degrees does not need dark frames at all it would seem which removes a hassle. There is a brighter bottom of the image when binned which can be removed with flats or gradient removal software.

These images are way better than my previous efforts which I though were pretty good.

Regards, John.

Beautiful images! The Eight Burst is especially fine.

The Ghost of Jupiter looks like a watch showing ten minutes to six. The time has not changed in ten years.

They all look pretty good to me John, I recently did the 8 burst but my sub lengths were too long and I overexposed the red part.

NGC2440 is strange indeed I wonder what solar winds created that arrangement.

I do like the ghost of Jupiter, why is it named that as it bears no resemblance to what Jupiter looks like.

Cheers
Bill

Nicely done John. The outer shells of the eight burst have come out really well and the ghost is beautiful in detail and colour.

Thanks Bill.
NGC 2440 is one of the hottest white dwarfs 219000K surf temp and does have a faint halo around the whole object. There is an inner torus and multi polar components difficult to pick out shown in the attachment.

I think we should have an object renaming program, but it's history I suppose. With CCD's it's not like looking through a telescope at a hazy blob with averted vision - we get the full detail.

Thanks everyone for comments.
Regards, John.

Excellent John, a great collection of PNs well presented with good colour and detail.

Makes me wonder what the collective noun for a group of PNs is
