I got to visit the Celestron Factory / Offices in Los Angeles

I recently got back from a trip to LA and was lucky enough to get a tour of the Celestron facility there. Although most of the scale manufacturing is done in Asia these days, some precision parts, repairs and QA are still done in the USA. As is all the management, marketing and product development.

Anyway it was super interesting and impressive and there's a very quick vlog video about it on my youtube if anyone's interested in taking a peek.

There are some areas I couldn't put in the edit or they'd reveal too much about prototyping. Hot stuff in the oven for advanced astronomers.

I've said too much. I may need to kill you.

Thanks for the info Dylan. I hope these are not the same guys that gave us the CGX belt drive design.

I believe they'll have some positions open soon if you want to offer your engineering services Glen

It'll be interesting to see what they've got up their sleeves, but there'll be no killing the moths in my wallet

Bring back the PC port celestron! (or at least give us some way to control a mount via a pc, eg eqmod)
But otherwise, i'd love to visit there and see all the scopes they have! They make some great stuff!

Erm...an ASCOM driver already exists for PC control of most Celestron mounts
