Saturn just doesn't stack up.

I hope some one can help or at least point me in the right drection.
Every time I try process my images from the last few night I get ghosts or nothing.
I have tried registax 6 and 5. Also deep sky stacker on other shots last week.
I'm at my Witt's end. Please help.

Here is a folder of my Saturn shots from last night.
https://www.box.com/s/0f6ba8d1075902e6ee44

I know there are a lot.
I have not tried all at once rather I have tried to pick groups where it doesn't move around much.
Is that the problem?
Does Saturn move to much to be aligned?
Is there something else I can use?

I tried 6545-60 and then seperately using 6497-6516.

I am one frustrated beginner.

Happy to hear any suggestions.

I should add.
They were taken through my 10" lx200 with a barlow and canon 40D.
I couldn't find how to lock the mirror up so that could account for some vibration. Tried a 3 hole mask and 10x live view to focus.
They were shot as jpg's.

Hi Chris, you could try capturing in avi file format. then stack the file using Autostakkert, this should help.

Imaging can be very frustrating but stick with it

Hope this helps 8-)

Yes for planetary you want capture thousands of images. Capture as an avi instead and try that out.

Trouble is the 40D doesn't capture video natively. I found a tutorial using ver 4 of registax and that tracks Saturn much better. But as you have said it does look like I need a lot more frames to get a decent image. Thanks for the replies.

Looks like it does allow live view capture. That definitely makes it worth the cost, let alone all the other features.

I was looking at updating the camera, but a few other things have come up to have to put that on hold . A 7D or the new 650D caught my eye.

DSS doesn't stack planetary images.
(the developer himself says DSS never will work on planets 'cause he himself doesn't do planetary imaging and therefore wouldn't know how to write code for it.)
