Recommendation for a filter for imaging?

Hi all,

I am looking for an H-Alpha or OIII 1.25" filter to use with my ATIK 320E. I usually image with an 80mm refractor (the other option is a 9.25" SCT with reducer). I know some filter are better for imaging and some are better for observing (I have an OIII for observing already).

Can someone recommend a filter for imaging for me?

I use an Atik 420, the same sensor as yours... The sensitivity to Ha isn't great, so you should probably think about the Astronomik 12nm bandpass Ha filter.... Ha filters aren't good for observing at all, only imaging....
Your O-III should be good - just make sure you are blocking IR, ie - if it is a CCD O-III filter you'll be fine, a visual one you should use an IR filter also....

I use the Astronomik Ha/O-III with mine, they work fine....

Thanks Lee!

The OIII I use for observing is just a GSO OIII. A couple of test images were not great.

I happen to have a 1"25 Astronomik 12nm Ha filter that I'm looking to sell. It's practically brand new as I've never used it. The wife bought it for for my birthday but got the wrong size. Pm me if your interested.
