more moonage from the last day of summer

only a tad more to a full moon but the clouds will kill this off. 8 panel mosaic with the gstarex3 and the 127ed. colour fringing due to the cheap lens of the 127ed and my inept skills in processing

south is up north is down

Hi Dave

Nothing wrong with this one Dave.

I punched it through Topaz Adjust (tonal range) and Topaz Detail (micro contrast) and I think it has scrubbed up quite nicely, despite the hit on IQ due to jpg compression artefacts from processing and then saving your jpg file.

Cheers

Dennis

Hi Dave

Optus have had a Broadband outage all day today (Fri) and we have just gotten back on the air.

I did a quick repro of a section of your image (wink, wink) and will have a look at the larger version you sent via e-mail.

Hopefully Optus Broadband will remain available for a little while longer...

Cheers

Hi Dave

Good pick up - that was an Apollo photo!

Here is a 1200 pix version of your 5M jpg e-mailed yesterday, Optus Broadband is back up again in our suburb.

Nice data to work with.

Cheers

Wow you certainly wrung out the details, not really teased as it is frighteningly lumpy and bumpy. Lol might need to run the smooth setting 😂. I can't believe there was more in the image

Hi Dave

The benefits of working with good, underlying data.

Topaz Adjust seems to adjust the image tonality so that the darks, mid-tones and lights are all mapped to brightness values which the computer screen can display (a bit like HDR). I assume that some non-linear stretching goes on in the background.

Topaz Detail (Micro Contrast Enhancement) seems to find data transitions or edges where there is sufficient contrast and then enhances that contrast so the (raw) subtle changes in tonality are enhanced to better be seen on the computer display.

If the image is too noisy, then these plug ins will also "enhance" the noise so they generally require well exposed data to work with.

Cheers

Dennis
