Imaging Solar Eclipse with DSLR question

I am hoping that I get to see something (if not I can get some good shots of the sun and do some observing) therefore I will be doing the following.

Setups:
1) Telescope with the solar filter using my new modified webcam hooked up to my Mac (vmware fusion with XP on it) to take some shots and later process them.
2) DSLR on a tripod for some wide angle shots.

This might be a stupid question but to take photos of the sun through a DSLR sitting on a tripod do you need any special filters like with the solar filter for a telescope? Also my camera does not have live view.

So sorry if this is a dumb question but my brain is fried after studying for my exams all this week.

Stefan at partial you'll need to make a solar filter using the baader film or similar, at totality when the sun is fully covered you should get away with no ilter
What f/l ru shooting at hough, if you're wide you will get away with no filter, it's the tele shots requiring the film, sorry
