Reason for bad weather....

Picked up a new toy today.... a not too shabby piece of glass.... Canon L-200mm F2.0

Took some test pics with a 5DIII...zippo false colour, superb geometric correction....however, even though Fred will be disappointed... it is destined for some WFW imaging in H-alpha

H! Of course you'd say that.... I know your sheer dislike for Canon glass: not!

Ta Greg... my plan is to have 200mm through 3000mm FL's covered in reasonably discrete steps...as I have a fair bit of Canon glass already, to quote Spock, "it seemed logical"

Noice!

Do you think it would illuminate a 16803 chip? (I'm assuming that is an 8300 chip in that camera)

I tried my 70-200 lens on my QSI, unfortunately the results were less than impressive - lots of tilt. After checking the mounting and pondering for a while, all I think the of is that image stabilisation system needs to be powered to keep the moving parts square. I've had success with that mount an an 85mm lens so I don't believe it's a problem with the mount on the CCD.

Ta Dave....Yes, I think it would (L-lenses are designed to fully illuminate 35mm sensors, and a 16803 has the same elevation profile), only problem is, my SBIG's 16803 doesn't have the right back focus....

But that's OK, the KAF8300 is basically a APC chip, and the sampling is better.... a case of "watch this space"
