Shadow of itself

Folks,

First time I've had a chance to get out on what was forecast to be a half-decent night, so I set out to get some shots of Jupiter. As (mis)fortune would have it, Io was transiting, which makes the processing a little more interesting

Anyhow, here's my usual gaudy result, almost certainly too much colour and a little over sharpened, but why not through the eyepiece Jupiter was looking quite exquisite at times with lots of swirls on show, you could almost run your finger through the white current around the GRS and the Io's shadow was especially sharp, although the moon itself is almost impossible to see visually against the glare of Jupiter.

Still some more data to trawl through, but I think this is probably the pick of it.

Kit: C11 Edge HD, TV Powermate 2.5x, ZWO ASI224MC.

Edit: I've added a version without all the razzmatazz

Cheers,
Dunk

Cool. I was able to follow Io itself visually for a while as it was in front of the NEB. Was nice to see it and the shadow together.

Yeah the 224 is a ripper! The red in the image on the left was from a little heavy hand with the saturation slider in processing the image on the right is just had some colour correction but no boost. The GRS is a lot more bold this year, I went back to last year's data to check.

Hi Dunk,

Those are some great images. I must confess I can't decide whether I like it better with or without razzmatazz.

Your images are inspiring me to get back into this!

Take care,
Doug
