A DOH! moment

After a big 50th Birthday bash last night (for moi ) I was looking forward to recovering with some image processing . Just sat down to put together about 15hrs of data...and after doing all the preprocessing...wondered why my brand new set of flats wasn't working properly for my OIII calibration, then I realised when I had re loaded my Astroart software recently after a hard drive failure, I must have assigned the wrong labels to the filters in the filterwheel control panel? Lo and behold when I used the SII flats (collected before the software reload) my OIII data flattened out beautifully. So my 6hrs of OIII was actually 6hrs of SII ..Dang! it was OIII that I wanted because it is a tiny Planetary ...I wondered why the OIII data looked so similar to the Ha .....now I need another night...and the Moon as growing fuller and the weather isn't looking good over the next three days, I need no Moon for OIII...fun hobby

Mike

Yeah, been there, done that - I mixed G & B one time. It was a bit of a pain to realise and unravel.

Was really looking forward to nursing my (only slight) hangover after my 50th bash last night , with some image processing therapy...

I'm gunna do the RGB anyway...that'll be some consolation at least.

Sometimes things like that can help us discover something new. I'm sure you will find a way to put those 6 hours of SII to a good use Mike

Quite right Suavi, quite right, I should now end up with a full SIIHaOIII and may well finally crack the elusive 20hr exposure mark with the AG12 ...I'm just impatient
