After much correspondence and with time ticking by, I've reached the point where it seems necessary to put a price on this and see if I can't get this wonderful telescope off to a new home.
To help you understand how the price has been arrived at, keep in mind the custom carry case if worth around $500, the BRC-250 rings another $675, and the OPT dovetail plate another $400.
Add to this the price the M250 fetches on the second-hand market, which ranges all the way up to $8000 (OTA alone)
Shipping to be organised and paid for by buyer. Pick up is also welcome.
So, $6000 gets you the whole shebang, which is in pristine condition.
No, this is not the CRS version of the M250. As a planetary imager, I never saw the need for it, but it can be easily 'upgraded' if required.
And yes, I am willing to offer flexible terms on payment.
By that, I mean those who are looking to secure an OTA of this quality but need a little help paying for it - I am happy to work on a deposit plus payment plan over an agreed period.
If i didnt have a SDM dob already I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Till now the best view i ever had of the Orion Nebula was through a Tak Mewlon. Gave us tingles looking at it!
It is one of things which surprises about the Mewlons, given much of their 'fame' is based around their wonderful capability as planetary imaging scopes.
I was very pleasantly surprised at the deep sky views they are capable of as well. Likewise, the best view I have ever had of the Orion Nebula has been through this M250. It has also offered up amazing views of globular and open clusters, double stars and other DSOs.
Stars look amazing through this scope. As I often see described 'like diamonds on black velvet'. A fair description.
And then you put in a high power eyepiece on a night of good seeing and turn it on the planets!!
