In The End, I bought....

A modified Canon 20D! Had the original filter replaced with a baader UV/IR. Should be coming in 2 weeks (hopefully). I know its not that huge of an upgrade to the 350DA i had previously, but the 20D should have slightly lower noise than the 350DA maybe i can even go at a higher ISO at my location plus a .2 megapixel bigger !

Other bits and pieces improvement over the 350D can be found here:

Hi Eric,

At the end of the day the 20d is a fine camera and a step up from the prosumer series. I am sure you will get heaps of good use from it.

Thanks Paul, i hope so. Its just that i have supported software eg DSLR Focus and other bits and pieces which supports the oldish camera than the newer ones thats probably why i went for the 20D.

I look forward to seeing what you can do with it!

Where did you get it from, and how much was it?

So does this mean you are going to start your imaging again from the start! Just as you were running out of objects too...

It will be interesting to see comparison shots between something taken with the 20 and the 350.

thanks guys. yes will be collecting all the objects once again with the 20D. will definitely keep me busy as i was running out of objects with the 350D. i normally try to use each camera i have on an object then compare it using other cameras taking the same object.

i have only one question eric...where d you find the time to image? i would love to know if there is a place where i can purchase this extra time, an extra 6 or so hours in my day would be magical! though the weeks and months would go alot slower....so i dunno...

wow, you join my two favourite things together, not sleeping and coffee.

a champion effort. i don't really see how a modded 40d and a modded 450d will be different, they are essentially the same internals...except the 450 uses the digicIII doesn't it? hmmmm...might be time for an 'accident' to happen to the 350d

The 40D also uses digicIII

Get the 350D modded Josh, you won't be disapointed and you can still use it for daytime photography .

It has been confirmed. 20D has now been sold annd the Modded 40D is on its way!! woohooo . .. ok guys, this is final , you won't hear me saying "ive sold the modded 40D and now got myself a modded 1Ds"

20D has more comparable noise control to the 1D Mark IIn and appears to be slightly better than even the 30D and 40D.

But it appears you have got yourself a 40D now anyways. Good luck! Live view is a big help.

I reckon it will only last a month or so, and he will pine for a cooled dedicated CCD, LOL. Whatever he uses, the results are nothing short of spectacular.

Well said Gary, you are right on the money, Eric could do justice with a Kodak Easyshare pocket Camera.
