Baade's Window

A little glimpse of the galactic centre, peering through the interstellar dust. This was 19x 12 second exposures at 3200 ISO from a stationary tripod, registered and stacked in PixInsight. One of these days I'll piggy the DSLR to my mount...

We never grow tired of the detail that the cameras reveal.

Nice image Kevin

I love these shots Kevin and you have delivered a good one.
Great to see you finally got to try some wide field and I hope you do many more before long.

Thanks Alex. I have a good Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens that I used for this and should use more often. Next time I'm in Sydney I'll visit the nice people at Bintel and see if they have a good way to attach the camera to my mount.

I may be able to help as I have a spare alluminium plate that works great...but I will be away from it for a while.
I will post a photo of the one I use later.

I was just reading about the significance of Baade's Window yesterday.

Thanks Kevin for the image.

Thanks Bob, it's an interesting part of the sky. It's probably at this stage that I should admit that the image started as a test shot looking for the rho oph cloud complex. I was way off but when I realised where I was I thought I might as well keep going!
