X-series has grown up...

So it seems that medium format is the new full frame...

Mirrorless with 51 megapixel sensor developed in-house, weighs about 800g.

Suddenly, my imaging circle doesn't seem large enough

I wonder if they just used the same sensor in the Hasselblad X1D or if its something new
Its still only a 5.3um welled sensor, so it will be interesting to see if Fuji invented something new and different.

I read somewhere they said the sensor is new and has special shaped microlenses and so Foveon chip design immediately sprang to mind !, so I look forward to some actual specs being announced.

Just needs some -60C cooling !

With 14bit dynamic range it could be useful for astro, if the dark noise isnt too bad

Yeah could be interesting to dream about

A year or so ago there was an article about how Fujifilm and Panasonic had patented a new organic photodiode that was much wider than even a BSI silicon equivalent. Maybe it's too much to ask for it to be in the first generation, but a tech leap like that on a large sensor has got to be interesting

If only they'd develop an API for controlled shooting

Ooooo looks good! This is the sort of camera that I upgraded my scope for 54.8mm diagonal is quite a size! Only marginally larger than the 16803 at 52mm.

Looks interesting but "way under $10K" probably means a lot more than $5K

Its the Sony Exmor 50mp 44 x33mm sensor. Fuji probably have specified some microlens adjustments as they mention that in their promo video.

Its a bayer filter array too.

Low light performance should exceed any full frame sensor at present. Its a lot larger than full frame.

Sizewise its probably no bigger than a 5D. Price is supposed to be significantly less than US$10,000 whatever that means.
It has a series of built in crop modes like full frame etc.

Greg.

Canon has just released their big mirrorless dslr. Still they are all uncooled, osc, and expensive. Not to forget you can't mod them as they are becoming more software than hardware devices.
