6" SCT carry case options

I've been looking for a carry case for my Celestron 6" SCT, and I found one on Celestron's website that retails for a whopping $540 (https://www.celestron.com.au/product...-sct-or-edgehd)

What would you recommend as an alternative (and cheaper) option to carry the mount and OTA?

A bit difficult without knowing the dimensions of your OTA; I’m guessing 180 diameter by 550 or 600 long ?

Several options https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop...s---Cases.html

Depends on how rough you’re going to get with it, but a medium sized hold-all with some decent foam does the job.

The C6 is a touch over 6” in diameter and 13.5” long, + any visual back / diagonal you have attached.

I figured a box 80cm wide x 50cm deep x 40cm tall would do it. It's just a standard 6" Celestron SCT

My 10” mak would fit in that. Suggest you think smaller🙏.

Are you intending to leave the OTA attached to the mount or splitting them up?

I suggest you put them gently on the floor in whatever configuration you intend to stow them in leaving enough room for foam padding, etc.. then measure around them & you'll have your box/bag dimensions...

Totally on spec & because I have looked at one of these for my Vixen R130SF have a look at this... not stupid expensive but, will need you to add foam which does put the overall price up but, still well short of the Celestron case I suspect... Unfortunately, this box is literally 5mm too short for my Vixen...

It may not meet your needs but, might be worth a look...

I’ll second the Bunnings pelican cases, they have different sizes. I’ve got a 5 inch mak and fork mount in one with enough room for accessories. Used the packing foam it came with. Strong and waterproof.
