A New Hope

Bought some new gear to help improve my astroimaging.
Spent last night learning about PHD, autoguiding etc. A steep learning curve for an old Dinosaur, but a lot of fun. Good for the little grey cells.

Did some test shots of M42, M46 M47 and Eta Carina. Hope to start using my Canon 6D soon.

Taken with an Evostar 72 on a HEQ5 pro mount and Canon 600D with a Baader filter from suburban Carlingford. Looking forward to some country sky.

Hi David,

ISO1600, 12 subs at 120 sec each. No darks etc. Just testing the setup.

Richard.

Hi Richard,

Firstly, nice images ! Well done.

Secondly, I'm in the market for a filter. Which Baader filter do you use and are you happy with what it does ?

Cheers

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I use the Baader L-Booster UHC-S Filter. It gives your image a blue cast and I correct the colour in Photoshop using the adjustments to temperature and tint in the Raw processing module. There are probably other ways of doing it, but this method works for me. I am very happy with this filter. Hope this helps.

Richard.
