Last night I took myself to one of my darkish night skies not too far from Melbourne to capture the Leo Triplet of galaxies. Having miscalculated the time of moonrise, I actually only had about half an hour of complete darkness to shoot this famous target. To add to my dilemma, the intervalometer that connects to the camera was not operating properly so I had to time my subs manually until finally that didn't work either.
So I only managed 13 x 90 seconds subs with a mixture of 800 and 1600 iso to get this result. I'm pleased I actually captured enough photons to see some detail in the galaxies.
Just before I packed up as the moon was rising, I took a quick 10 x 30sec subs ( could only use the 30 sec maximum shutter speed by then). However, due to the high position of 3372 at this time the scope was pointing almost vertically and the focus must have changed because as you can see, the shot is slightly out of focus. Oh well, lesson learned, always check your focus between captures!

nice work Mick. Good point about checking the focus - sometimes I forget when I get into the swing of taking shots with the DSLR through my AT66 or Meade LX200.
