NGC3199 in O3 - a WIP

I managed to get some clear sky last night to capture some O3 for NGC 3199 with the intention of adding to this as the cloud allows. Trying to collect the O3 while the moon is away but the clouds look like they have plans for tonight. I will add Ha to this later to form a colour image. At 3 hours integration the faint structure of the shell is starting to come through in the lower parts of the bubble. I am aiming to get about 12 hours of O3 on this if the weather and work combine to allow me to get this before the moon returns and then try to get about the same amount of Ha.

This is a stack of 6 x 30 min images (total 3 hours) using an Atik One 6 and Baader filters attached to an Esprit 120. Guiding using PHD2. The attached is largely as it came out of the camera except for calibration with bias and then integrated in Pixinsight. The focus is a bit soft because of the conditions here at the moment.

Good effort Brian given the weather we’ve been having!

Looks good, Brian. This is an object that just doesn't have much crisp detail so don't expect too much. I found it really difficult to process.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Dunk. Yes it looks like we are back to clouds and rain for another week again.

Thanks Rick. I am happy to see the faint stuff starting to appear but don't expect it to become too crisp. It will be a while before I get a change to process it at this stage, but it does look like a challenge as you say.

It is looking pretty good at the moment Brian, it isn’t the brightest or most “interesting” of objects
