StarShoot Solar System Colour Imager IV VS DSLR

Hi All,

Since Im a beginner in astrophotography I don't want to spend too much at the beginning until my skill is getting better.

I am using my unmod 600D taking photos of nebula and galaxy with CLS light pollution filter.

I have a Orion Starshoot solar system color imager IV (CCD) for planets.

I also have Red, Yellow and Blue filter for eye piece (1.25")

In your opionion, should I use my orion CCD cam to take pics of nebula/galaxy..etc or just use my DSLR?

Thanks

Give it a try. It will likely be a bit more sensitive to the nebulae. You may be disappointed with the smaller field of view. I don't think it'll take long to decide which you prefer using for deep-sky stuff.

Hi David,

you will be able to get some ok results with the Orion starshoot but the 600d will be much better IMO.

cheers,

russell
