Tiangong-1 satellite

Looks like the Tiangong-1 is going to have a dramatic end!
Here is a couple of links to some media reports.
theguardian

washingtonpost

Worst case scenario for us is, it hits Tasmania with toxic gasses oozing out, at the end of March til mid April is roughly when it might happen.
Best case is that it all burns up and nothing happens.
Double check your flights to Tasmania.

Neat,

Thanks for that. I used to watch this one a few time each week when SkySafari on my phone would shout out when it's time to pass. Reckon it be quite a show for those able to see it tumbling down...?

Yeah the Tiangong-1 could have the same fire works as the Enterprise did.

Looks like it might disperse over eastern USA...I would be so saddened if Washington DC copped the brunt...

That may lead Trump to start a nuclear war... I can already imagine his tweet: "China is attacking us with satellites..."

Tiangong-1 still up there

Just observed the 20:34 orbital passage from ACT.

No burn up this pass

I'm getting mixed signals, _ The live ground track shows it passing the Qld east Coast, in an hour or so, showing in particular traveling NE of the SE Qld Corner, eg, brisbane/Gold Coast !
But the Orbital Data is saying to look Sth SWst ect ? ?

Maybe you have the wrong location co ordinates for your location. Here's my chart from Mackay. Ok the ground track has just moved so it will now pass on the western side. It's orbital path must be changing.

Bob,
I think you're looking at the wrong chart.

You're looking at the real time tracker ie current orbit. Click on the line in the predicted passes table and you'll get an all sky star chart showing the path at that predicted pass that you've clicked on.

The red circle centered on the Gold Coast indicates that you have entered the correct observer coordinates.

Cheers

Joe

I think the times/directions of the 'Passes are not being updated any longer, , there is no need to do this, ?
The live tracker is best and updated continually (y)
