First dark with the Samyang 14mm 2.4 XP

An Easter break has allowed me to test the new lens with my EOS R. Every session I'm more and more impressed just how good this lens is! I still need to work out the distortions and vignetting, but it's an absolute joy to use

Very good shots. I like my Samyang 14 also for those nightscapes.

Nice group of nightscapes you've taken Jonathan. I especially like the last one with ( I assume yourself ) a lone figure taking in the great vista. The headlamp torch adds colour and interest to the scene.

I have the 14mm f2.8 and to be honest I'm rather disappointed with it at full aperture, I have to stop it down to at least f8 to get round coma free stars at the edges of the frame, defeating the benefits of a fast lens. I must have picked up a bad one because most people love them. I'm using it on a cropped sensor so I don't suffer from the distortions you're experiencing with your full frame camera.

Thanks. Back in the day, the 2.8 was great despite some QC issues - even much more expensive glass fell apart with coma (and still does!). Still a great place to start, but the 2.4 is turning out to be a class above.
