IR/UV or clear glass

So i can replace my filter with UV/IR glass or go clear.
I'm not concerned about loosing my camear for daytime pics, i have 2 other DSLR's and i wouldn't mind getting in to IR photography as a hobby.

THe question for DSLR users out there is: Clear or UV/IR what gives me more options to play with.?
Does anyone have sample pics a) imaged with UV/IR and b) imaged with 12nm H-Alpha.

Chjeers

Carl,
I use the 1000D with no filter for spectroscopy and it definately gives the extended spectrum.
A UV-IR filter (Baader type) has cut off at 400nm and 700nm so the Ha band is available at higher efficiency.
If the question is: Is the efficiency at Ha different between a UV-IR filtered camera and one with only a clear (or no) filter?...then the answer is it's almost the same....it's only when you compare with the original Canon filter that you see the difference.
