M16 Mrk2.

I'm still testing this new camera against my various scopes and here is a NB M16 from the RC8 which I just colimated. The primary mirror was out by a mile.

10 x S2 15minute subs binned x2, 15 x Ha 10minutes subs binned x1, 10 x O3 10minute subs binned x2.

I'd like to shoot more of this so I can turn the green to blue and to iron out the bugs, can you see them at all, but bom tells me rain is coming again

S2:Ha:O3 (2.5 : 2.5 : 2.5 hours)

I've acquired some more data, it didn't rain at all, and knocked up a more traditional narrowband rendition of M16. I still like the red one

This one has 6.5hours of S2 binx2, 3hours of Ha binx1 and 5.5hours of O3 binx2.

M16 Narrow

That has come out quite nice - even with the green.

Prolly too much angry red Al, but it is tax time and tonight I discovered that the guy who runs QLD Rail earns more than the PM of Australia, after her pay rise.

Promising image with some good detail there Robin. Colours not so much to my liking though. Good luck with this one as I think it will be a great image when you can add more to it.

So much for bom's forecast of rain, it's another brilliant day in the tropics

Should be interesting image Robin. I took data looking similarly last month and waiting to add to it. Not sure I like the look though of my data but this look pretty promising so far.

Cheers guys. I think seeing was pretty good the other night, DEC guiding was pretty much a flat line all night. In retrospect it prolly would have been better to shoot Ha all night.

It didn't rain at all so I got some more last night but DEC guding would occasionally step up/down a pixel odd, even with 3sec exposures, so I guess there was some moisture in the air.

More data added over the weekend and a more traditional colour scheme applied.

Ended up with 15hours of useable data for this one.

I have combined this image using tone mapping techniques.

Have to go with Mike on this as I love the repro just posted. A really nice image so I guess you will be taking the RC8 to Astrofest?

Cheers guys. It was originally looking like the combo of 11002 sensor + 2" focuser + M42 OAG was going to be a no no. But after a tweek with a cheshire, CCDInspector shows the scope is far closer than it was, add the astrotech flattener I got off Peter and a solid mounting for a guide scope and it has become quite usable, for subs up to about 15minutes anyway.

I might be able to squeeze it into the Golf somewhere Allan, not sure about the box I keep it in though
