Question Telescope Carry Case in Australia?

Hi all, this is my first post!
Just received my first large aperture telescope in the post this week - a celestron CPC 800 GPS. I've been searching a hard protective carry case for it on line. I found one in the US but the shipping cost was more than the case! Does any one know if I can get one in Australia?
Thanks!

Hi, and firstly welcome to ISS!

I know how you feel I went through the same problem when I got my first scope late last year. In the end I didn't get anything and on the second scope/mount I kept the original packing to use but I have noticed you do occasionally see some cases popping up for sale second hand in Aus that must have been shipped from the US.

Also, I think there are pelican distributors in AUS

http://www.pelican.com/australia/

But these cases are again pretty expensive despite being able to be attainted locally I think

Good luck and let us know how you go!

Thanks for the welcome!

I found one for the NexStar 8SE but not sure yet if I can use that. Probably too small. I'll keep looking.

If the only ones you can find here are the Pelican cases I am sure many people have gone through the same sort of thing as you so start searching for what model pelican cases people suggest for your scope.

Saving that, it being quite an investment work out the dimensions you want and maybe email pelican with the details and see what they recommend

The Craftright (sp) cases from Bunnings are adequate for mounts, etc., but not necessarily for OTAs. That said, I did see a blue poly case at Bunnings a while back that would have accommodated a decent sized OTA (eg: my C9.25) and from memory the price was around $189.

I ended up making a case out of 12mm ply.
