20x80T Binoculars and Tripod just arrived

My new 20x80T Binoculars and HVT10 tripod just arrived from AOE today.

Just had them outside for quick looky, and my first impressions are that I'm very impressed for such a modestly priced instument.

A few quick notes:

They are lighter than I imagined.

Some CA is evident particularly on extended bodies like Jupiter and Saturn, but this is minimised and quite acceptable (to me) by accurate focus.

Jupiter and moons all bright an shiny even during twilight.

Saturn and its rings as well Titan visible again even during twilight.

Jewel casket clearly visible during twilight.

Alpha Centauri aaallllmmmooosst split!

Close focus is about 30m or so.

Internals have some shiny surfaces which were first evident looking into the binos backwards, but using them with stray light around (street lights in my case) results in some unwanted flare and reflections in the FOV, unfortunately.

I'll no doubt put them through their paces and post a short review later.

Al.
