I didn't see anything until I came back and altered my post. Solution was that there was one more driver needed (in the accessories drivers area, not ascom) from the skywatcher site, and then also mounting the usb directly to the computer rather than via a hub.
Anyway, its whizzing away and i am so glad to not be turfing gear. Now just waiting on my guide scope and clearskies!
