The EF-S 15-85 I have is a good one as well (despite no red ring and only 5.6 at the 85mm end), but 3.5 at the 15mm end and an angle of 84º.

I like the 15-85 on my 400D very much and it does cover most day to day uses. It gives the same fov on a crop as the 24-105 on a full frame. It's not quite the same quality as my 70-200 f/4 but it isn't too shabby either. For photographing the tweety birds it's hard to go past the 400 f/5.6.
