Imagine all the discoveries we'd have missed if everyone just accepted conventional wisdom and never tried anything new.
At the end of the day when we're subtracting darks and bias we're trying to get rid of signal while introducing as little noise as possible, and maybe there's an algorithm that's particularly good at separating the signal from the noise thus enabling good NR.
Anyway, all good discussion. Turns out my next analysis won't be as soon as I'd planned... I forgot to plug in the external fan on the SX674 and all but two of the darks I took today had risen above desired temps... oh well.
