Okay, I see what you mean. Depending on the guiding calibration, a move in Y could involve movement in both DEC and RA.
I suggest you try a calibration in PHD2 and see if the same problem occurs there. This reports XY as NSEW, so is a bit easier to work out what's going wrong. This way you can also isolate whether it's something specific to MaxIm.
