For what it is worth, I had a similar issue with an SX-M25C some years ago. Sent it to SX, and it was back a week later. I cannot recommend SX highly enough.
My experience with SBIG/Diffraction conversely was VERY pedestrian and VERY frustrating. I simply replaced the entire CCD instead.
