Hey Karl,
If it's just surface dust and particulates then use a camera cleaning bubble. It looks like a little whoopy cushion and it will just blow the dust off. For more serious cleaning of lenses and mirrors, there's some good videos on YouTube that show you how using cotton wool and distilled water.
