Both the mirror on the Oberwerk mount and the new replacement are the same 1/2 inch thick first surface mirrors , a coating system chosen for optical purposes. As to the optical flatness I could not say and have no way of testing. I think that it is more than capable for visual use and looks equal to my diagonal.

My DIY mirror mount can be used with good results up to my 28x100 binoculars using a good first surface mirror ( from the supplier down Bankstown way Sydney.)
