Interesting the different approaches to this sort of thing. It was not a particularly "Special" bridge by any means but where I used to live near Echuca there was a very tired old wooden bridge over the Campaspe river, so tired that the school bus was probably over weight for it. We lived there through the 80's to the mid 90's. They replaced the bridge some time after we moved away (resuming a bit of our old property in the process to straighten out a gravel S bend at the bridge, and removing much fun for the locals, all the gravel could usually be found in the grass on the outside of the corners)

The new bridge was constructed next to the old, they left the old bridge in situ to rot and presumably to eventually fall in the river.
