I use the camera hack on my 300d and have had no problems with it, but I have heard of one or two horror stories on digicamhacking group. They are few and far between & are generally combined with "stupidness" like re-flashing with a flat battery! (despite the warmings!).
Mainly only use the mirror lock-up feature. I won't touch 3200ISO as 1600 is noisy enough anyway!
