seems reasonable: usually you want to set the gain and offset once, then keep the settings for your camera. The only occasion one would need to change them is if bin 2x2 is used, but I am not sure if binning makes sense for a one-shoot color CCD.
BTW, what does "mono" means in your current ASCOM driver?
