Ser ?

With the ASI 120now successfully converted to Peltier cooling I tried to set it to do DSO long exposure time imaging. It all looks good except for the fact that it cannot do FITS imaging as this does not work with OSC sensors !.

The options are AVI, BMP and SER. What is SER ? I've not heard of it in reference to astroimaging.
I can try with BMP, files are 3.5 meg so workable but does this have any other limitations with regard to sensitivity or processing before or after conversion to TIF for example.

The glass window arrived so the ASI is now full spectrum after I removed the IR window and a 1 hour cooling run on Sunday got me down to -3.5*C with no icing or dew showing. I'm feeding a small warmed air pipeline to the window from the fan on the radiator on the back of the Peltier. Just keeps the front window dry and clear.
