Happy Birthday Mike,
You are a very lucky fella. My family would never buy me anything that flash. Of course, you can buy lenses to fit, which will wind up costing more than the camera. One thing to remember, the camera is only rated to 0 C and 85 % humidity which could be a problem for astro. Wonder if my family will get me a Pentax K5 for my birthday? Fat chance. At least there is only 1 lens missing from my Pentax collection, one I have never seen sold second hand. Saw the results from a K5(same sensor) just plugged in to the back of a scope-very passable images.
Do remember , it will be your wife's birthday at some stage, so get that thinking cap out. And do remember, you need to at least double the callibre of gift!
