You're not wrong Ken and the 300D is still an awesome camera and because of the pixel count the noise is well controlled, surprisingly so compared to other similar bodies.
I still use mine and love it !!

Don't know about price, I'd say it's going to replace the 30D so it will come in at a similar PP that the 30D did when it was released.
It's interesting to note that there was a recent Cash Back offer of $100 on the 400D and $200 on the 30D which finished last month I think.
Mind you, you can pick up a new 400D body for $869 now.
The entire EF and EF-S lens range will fit the new camera if it is a x1.6 crop APS-C sensor.
